Conceived in the spring of 2007, The Ghost Inside emerged with a vengeance from the Los Angeles music scene where dreams fade just as fast as they are born. The band was a fresh new start for friends Jonathan Vigil, Aaron Brooks, and Tyler Watamanuk who’s former band, “A Dying Dream” had recently disintegrated after half of the members moved on. This left Vigil and company quite discouraged as they had just released an EP with hardcore heavyweights “Mediaskare Records.” Fueled by their frustration, and determination to never give up, they founded The Ghost Inside and enlisted drummer KC Stockbridge, and guitarist Soyer Cole to round out the all-star lineup. With the roster solidified and plans to conquer the world, The Ghost Inside began crafting their own unique brand of aggressive yet melodic metal/hardcore. Their collective goal was to write music that would transcend genres without boundaries, and set them apart from their peers putting them into a league of their own. All of the hard work paid off when in April of 2007; the band released their debut album entitled “Fury And The Fallen Ones” on Mediaskare Records. [...]
Born from the dark depths of Oakland, CA in 2003, Suffokate has crafted their own brand of crushing deathmetal/hardcore with plans of world domination. The band was formed by friends; Taylor & Lars who both shared a passion for metal, death metal, and hardcore music. Soon thereafter Bray took over bass duties. Their mission was to create tastefully heavy songs with well-written breakdowns. After several lineup changes and battling it out in the bay area hardcore scene, the band caught the attention of Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed) and soon released their first album entitled "Oakland" on his label, Stillborn Records. Coming off of the momentum of their first release and the addition of Ricky and Tesoro, the band melted faces in nearly every state across the country as they toured with such acts as Sworn Enemy, Bury Your Dead, All Shall Perish, For The Fallen Dreams, and Abigail Williams. Their hard work paid off as they recently signed with hardcore giant, Mediaskare Records. Their Mediaskare debut entitled "No Mercy, No Forgiveness" came out on February 23rd, 2010 and features 10 new skull-rattling tracks that are sure to destroy everything in their path. In today's hardcore/metal scene, it's easy for anyone to become jaded by the constant clones of, what is basically, the same band with hundreds of different names. We've all heard it; the same riff accompanied by the growling vocals and simultaneous "chug-chug" breakdowns. So, we wait and maybe search the music section on Myspace for a breath of fresh air. Thankfully, hidden in the obscure depths of the internet are bands that give this genre hope, and if you look hard enough, you can find them. One of these noteworthy bands is Lansing, Michigan's well kept secret, For the Fallen Dreams. Formed in late 2003 and recently signing with Rise Records (The Devil Wears Prada, Drop Dead Gorgeous) in the summer of 2007, these young men show incredible promise through songs that showcase poignant and powerful writing, both lyrically and musically while still staying in touch with their hardcore/metal roots. Their music displays a well-done balance of metal and melody. Guitarists, Jim Hocking and Kalan Blehm show a variety of ranges while shifting back and forth between hard-hitting metal riffs and some rather melodic guitar lines. Given their ability to draw the listener in with brutally honest lyrics about life, relationships, and struggle, the band shows solidarity for their future as a band to be taken seriously. [...]
Without warning 2009 proved a year of progression, growth and change for UK trio Lower Than Atlantis. Since January, when LTA were halfway through the touring cycle for their fledgling E.P ‘Bretton’, the Watford based band have gone through no less than three bassists and two drummers - not to mention, most significantly, a musical rebirth of Goliathian proportions. With the instability of their line-up threatening a return to the ‘real world’ for the band, Lower Than Atlantis’ creative core - vocalist/guitarist Mike Duce and guitarist Ben Sansom – were pushed into a cocoon of forced introspection and reflection. Fortunately, the encroaching danger that their beloved band might be collapsing around them had an unexpectedly positive effect on the young songwriters, as the twosome found themselves reconnecting with their truest musical influences and taking stock of the harsh reality that was fast surrounding them – a UK in the clutches of recession: its youth bored, in debt and out of work. Simultaneously re-inspired, angered and afraid, Lower Than Atlantis recruited drummer Eddy Thrower and set about creating their debut full length album ‘Far Q’, a collection of songs that sees the trio completing an unintended but wholly positive metamorphosis.
