The technical German death metal band Obscura was founded in 2002 by guitarist/vocalist Steffen Kummerer and drummer Jonas Baumgartl. The band caused a stir when they - out of nowhere - toured as support for Suffocation on their European tour in 2006 and when they independently released their debut album ‘Retribution’ that same year. After several lineup changes mastermind Steffen Kummerer got backed up by a new team of virtuoso musicians. Late 2007 Obscura announced drummer Hannes Grossmann (ex-Necrophagist) and fretless bassist Jeroen Paul Thesseling (ex-Pestilence) as new permanent members. Early 2008 the new lineup was completed by Christian Muenzner (ex-Necrophagist) as permanent guitarist. Together they create their vision of the future of extreme metal. A symbiosis of death, thrash and black metal merged with progressive elements and technical as well as compositional demand.

Spawn of Possession ist eine technische Deathmetalband, die im Februar 1997 von Jonas Bryssling (Gitarre), Jonas Karlsson (Gitarre), und Dennis Röndum (Schlagzeug) gegründet wurde. Nach drei Jahren nahm die Band ihre erste Demo-CD „The Forbidden“ auf und fand kurz darauf in Nick Dewerund den geeigneten Bassisten. Die Resonanz auf das Demo war durchweg positiv und so entschloss sich die Band ein Jahr später die zweite Demo-CD aufzunehmen, „Church of Deviance“. Nach ausnahmslos guten Kritiken nahm die Plattenfirma Unique Leader Records die Band unter Vertrag. Die Band arbeitete sechs Monate an neuen Liedern und nahm im Juni 2002 ihr Debutalbum „Cabinet“ auf. Zu diesem Zweck suchte die Spawn of Possession die Pama Studios auf und arbeitete mit dem Produzenten Magnus Sedenberg zusammen, mit dessen Hilfe das Album Cabinet aufgenommen, gemischt, gemastert und veröffentlicht wurde. Um für das neue Album zu werben, begab sich die Band zusammen mit Disavowed, Vile, Inhume, and Mangled auf eine vierwöchige Tour durch Europa. Kurz darauf folgte eine sechswöchige Tour durch Nordamerika, die die Band mit ihren Plattenfirmakollegen der Bands Severed Savior, Pyaemia, and Gorgasm bestritt. Die Tour beinhaltete 27 Konzerte, fünf davon in Kanada. Nachdem die Band aus Nordamerika wiederkam folgte eine weitere Tour durch Europa, die das alljährliche sogenannte No Mercy Paket mit Bands wie Cannibal Corpse, Hypocrisy, Kataklysm, Exhumed, Vomitory, und Carpathian Forest beinhaltete.

Gorod ist eine 2005 in Bordeaux, Frankreich gegründete technische Death Metal Band mit Jazz-Einflüssen. Um nicht mit einer amerikanischen DM-Band verwechselt zu werden benannten sie sich anfangs von Gorgasm in Gorod um, unter welchem Namen sie nun bereits 3 Alben veröffentlichten. Die Band ist derzeit im label „Willowtip / Listenable Records“ gesignt.Sänger Guillaume Martinot wirkt unter anderem noch in der Brutal Death Metal Band Voracious Gangrene mit.
